Flags proudly displayed
at Milton High School. A local Milton Girl Scout created this
Memorial as part of her Gold Award Project. - See and Remember
September 11, 2007
Dear Friends, Neighbors and Milton Citizens,
Today is September 11 - See and Remember.
Today we remember the day when America was attacked.
We remember those who were working in the three buildings that were
attacked.
We remember the workers who swarmed to the site of the twin towers
searching for survivors.
We remember the many military personnel who were called up to protect
our country, successfully.
Why did our country survive this?
Because we are the United States of America, the greatest country in
the world.
Today we remember, and we salute all our military and veterans.
They have protected us, and continue to do so today.
The thing I remember most about those dark days is the flags, flying
everywhere.
Today, Milton High School and Northwestern Middle School remember
with a Flag Memorial.
All of our Milton community joins together as we remember.

Together, we are a strong community. And working collectively for
the citizen's vision of Milton - as we have done for years - we can
successfully uphold the quality of life that makes this place unique and
wonderful. Please know I am more committed today than ever to
working with you to ensure Milton remains the special place we all love
and call home. Every voice, every volunteer and every person can
and does make all the difference.
Today is a good day to remember many things, especially that which is
the most important part of our community, i.e. the people and families
we hold dear. May we all be thankful for all that we have as
citizens, families and collectively as a community and as a country.
God bless you all,

Julie Zahner Bailey

Milton residents are eligible to purchase federally
backed flood insurance.
|
|
August 30,
2007-The City of Milton has joined more than 20,000 communities
nationwide that participate in the National Flood Insurance Program
(NFIP), enabling its residents to purchase federally backed flood
insurance. Flood insurance is now available to local property
owners, tenants, and may be purchased from any insurance agent or
broker licensed to do business in Georgia.
The ability to participate in the National Flood Insurance Program is
based on the City's adoption and enforcement of ordinances to reduce
flood losses, and the subsequent approval of the City's application by
the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management
Agency (FEMA). Milton became an approved participant in the
program effective August 10, 2007, after careful and thorough review of
the City's ordinance and enforcement practices regualting building and
construction in floodplains.
