Happy New Year & Upcoming
Meetings
|
|
Dear Friends, Neighbors and Milton Citizens,
Happy New Year! I hope you and your families have had a restful and
blessed holiday season. It is such an important time each year to
reflect on the values we hold dear. And with the new year upon
us, there is much to be thankful for and lots of exciting opportunities
facing our wonderful Milton community. As one of your 2008
goals, I encourage you to include on your list staying involved or
getting involved for the first time in your local community. Each
person and each view really does make all the difference.
With that in mind, I wanted to be sure you had some of the upcoming
meetings and agenda items on your calendar. I endeavor to help
keep you informed and apprised on the issues and opportunities before
us as a community. I hope you find this information
helpful. Your participation is always welcome and encouraged as
your opinions and voice can help to shape the future of our collective
community.
Tonight, Thursday, January 10th is our first Mayor and Council
meeting of 2008 and will include the swearing in ceremony of the newly
elected Council members, Alan Tart and Burt Hewitt, as well as myself
as we enter this next four year term. Please join us as we take
our oaths for public service. You can scroll down to see other items on
the agenda.
The Design Review Board met earlier this week and reviewed proposed
plans for a private school on Hopewell Road and the Fulton County
Birmingham Elementary School site and proposed building plans.
Monday, January 14th, please plan to attend the next meeting
regarding the Crabapple area and the specifics of the Crabapple Master
Plan and the Comprehensive Land Use Plan Update process. This
meeting will be held at Milton City Hall at 7PM.
Tuesday, January 15th, the Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) reviews
multiple variance requests for the Blue Valley development on Birmingham
Highway.
Each of these meetings and volunteer boards provide a tremendous
service to our community. Your involvement in the items and
issues they review are critical.
I look forward to serving you for the next four years as I consider it
an honor and a serious responsibility to represent your interests and
those of all citizens of Milton. Please know I am always
available to address questions or to help you in anyway possible.
All my best for a healthy and blessed 2008,

Julie Zahner Bailey
