League of Women Voter's Forum - October 4th, 2006

The League of Women Voter’s held a City of Milton candidate forum on Wednesday, October 4th, 2006 at the Milton High School. Paul Yates of Fox Five News moderated the event. The purpose of the forum was to allow the candidates in each of the six Districts and the Mayoral candidates to showcase their skills, background, qualifications and vision through a series of questions asked of each candidate within a given District. Each candidate answered four questions with a one minute response limit followed by each candidate having a one minute closing statement. The order of questions rotated between candidates.

The video offered here is the live footage of the District 2 candidates, including Julie Zahner Bailey and her two opponents.

Julie clearly demonstrated a superior command of the issues facing Milton and the solutions needed. She definitively stated her extensive business experience and community advocacy that will serve our new city well. Julie has been at the center of all issues facing this area for the last decade and it shows. Her positions of fiscal responsibility, conservative land use planning, detailed approaches for preserving the rural character that has defined this area for so long and a balanced approach towards commercial and office in the appropriately designated areas were articulated well.

Please look at the video and see first hand Julie’s distinct qualities, in-depth expertise, unmatched knowledge and leadership as we transition to a new city.

District 2 Debate (18 1/2 minutes)

Following the forum, Julie received many emails applauding her knowledge, expertise and extensive dedication. Community members wrote:

  • “You were exceptional this evening...you came across wonderfully clear,
articulate, concise and knowledgeable... and completely out-classed
the rest of the candidates. Great effort.”
  • “You were fabulous!”
  • “Julie was clearly the most credible.”
  • “You’ve got my vote.”
  • “I spoke to you this evening. I need a yard sign for the election.”
  • “You have my vote, as well as the lions share here at Crabapple North”.
  • “Thanks for all your efforts! I truly appreciate all the work you are doing.
      You have my vote."
  • “I just want to tell you again that you were awesome Wednesday night."
  • “I know you'll do a great job for the city."
  • "Oh Mom we HAVE TO vote for her, she is the nicest lady I have ever met!"
